I feel like shouting from the rooftops

I have been wanting to blog about something really special lately. I've been harboring a secret. But, with my busy Taylor the toddler I can hardly go near the computer unless she is taking a nap.Right now she is laying on the bed nest to me and I am hearing the sweet sound of  toddler snores.

I think that it is time for the secret to come out.....we are having another baby..and I am just bursting.I am getting really excited. We are half way through week 11 and we are almost to the point of hearing that sweet baby heartbeart. I am feeling selfish right now and I don't think that I could decide if I wanted a boy or a girl -I want both. That is kind of impossible though because I don't think we could have twins.I am just trying to say that I will be happy with either gender. We are not going to find out this time-we want to be surprised.

Morning sickness has been my friend since week 6 or 7 but, as long as I keep food in my stomach I know that we won't become that close of friends.

I can't wait until August when we meet this boy or girl.

What's happening with us?

We are very excited to announce that our dog had puppies on December 30th. They are black and yellow labs and very cute. The one pictured above is a yellow female. They are AKC and yes, we are selling them. You can email me at berg.kay84@yahoo.com if you are interested

Taylor loves the puppies. She has been teething this whole week and I don't think that I have ever seen her in such a bad mood.I think that she is recovering though because right now she is sleeping and she looks like a little angel.

We got a new sow yesterday-a duroc named Ruby. We want to raise pigs on a higher level . Stephen is working at the dairy but, I don't think that we are going to open our own anytime soon.

I think that any more announcements will have to wait until later ....to be continued.

Merry Christmas from the little family

Merry Christmas!

Just a little update...

Taylor turned one year old just last month and she is finally walking around on her own it is so fun to see her become more and more independent. She is starting to say words like mama, grandpa, up , uhoh, hot and dada.

Stephen has been working for a dairy not far from our farm and I have been busy keeping up with the chores and getting ready for Christmas.

Bonnie-our dog is due to have puppies in January (3rd) and Tilly our cow should calve any day now.

I feel like I'm distracted...i probably should say more..but, that will have to wait until later.

Just being Thankful

I have been wanting to blog this for a while but, I can't quite get the words out. I have time right now though and it looks like I am ready.

Sometimes I wonder why things happen the way that they do-does anyone besides God have the answers though? Why do some people starve while some have nothing to eat? Why are we so greedy when we have so much? Sometimes instead of being thankful for what I have I just really want what I don't have-why is that?
It's hard to see people with so much and say I want that but, than look at someone else and see that they have less than I do-now I am the one that has everything.I think what I want to concentrate on this holiday season is being thankful to God. I want to stop asking God for things so much and just be thankful.

I look around at all the good things that God has given my family-A wonderful farm, healthy animals for milk and meat, produce from lots of sources and canning resources to save our own food, and Taylor. There is not much more that I could ask for.

Taylor and the Chocolate

My Nephews came home with a ton of haloween candy. Which we promptly stuck in a bowl on the dining room table mistake number one. That very day they had a sugar high-we needed to get rid of the candy as fast as possible.

That leads us to mistake number two the boy's mom and I took most of the chocolate and hid it in a secret spot known to me in the kitchen. We were planning to save it till later to make cookies with.
I sometimes like chocolate so knowing it was there was tempting and one day when I snatched a peice and Taylor saw me. Taylor loves to get into the cupboards and now somehow -no thanks to me-she knows what and where the chocolate is. I have to move the chocolate because now that my one year old knows where and what it is.If she sees me with any she thinks she deserves some.

I don't want her to eat sugar because it isn't good for her and I was really surprised how quickly she decided that chocolate was something she wanted.

Looks like we made it!

I know that I am quoting a song that makes me think of country music and if I follow that thought I think about our farm.I can't believe that we finally arrived here but, It looks like we made it.

In July we moved to the most perfect-if that is even a phrase-farm. We have a large house and that turned out perfect because we are able to share it with my husband's sister and her family. We have a barn that is filled with our hay( although some of the hay  that we made this year got ruined in the rain(makes sad face)). There are 24 acres here for us to grow a wonderful garden, pick blackberries, pasture our animals, and target practice on. We have a shop and with 4 bays. This is the best place that we could find-It is so amazing .

God has blessed us so much. He has given us this farm and my husband a job close by at a dairy farm. God really answers prayer.

Sometimes It is hard to think about the things that you don't have but, it is better to be thankful for the things that you have.

I can't wait to see what God has in store for us next.
